The Forward Foundation is nonprofit social enterprise, committed to expanding access to faith-based, research-informed mental health and wellness care in Austin and beyond.

Medical insurance is already expensive, and when people pay for it, they need to be able to use it. By accepting most major insurance, we provide a valuable, financially viable way for people in our community to get the help they need.

As a team of counselors, we are aware that there is a segment of the population who may not feel they need a professional counselor, but could benefit from talking through goals and challenges with someone they trust. Some of them truly just need a safe place to talk and sort a few things out, and others may well need a counselor, but they are not in a place where they are ready to reach out.

That's why we train volunteers at churches and other nonprofits in mental health and wellness skills. They can then use these skills in their sphere of influence to provide more and better leadership, care and support to those they serve. Research shows this is a great way to help many people resolve issues at the community level, and for others to be referred on for professional mental health support.

As a member of The Forward Foundation counseling team, you get to play a role in this mission of expanding access to care! Whether as a trainer, or simply as a mental health provider receiving referrals from a church or nonprofit and accepting insurance, you will be contributing to the solution for the mental health care shortage in our world today.
